In 2005, this property was developed as a research-driven project in partnership with university programs and graduate researchers, with the aim of identifying effective strategies for increasing upland bird populations. With pheasant and quail numbers down by an estimated 85% over the past four-plus decades in much of the U.S., the effort has centered on protecting and restoring habitat to ensure these species can continue to flourish in the Great Plains. Covering 12,000 acres—including 50 fields planted in native grasses through the CRP program—the land provided a rare opportunity to manage wildlife habitat on a wide scale. Through techniques like selective burning, field disking, overseeding, planting forages, and various other land management practices, the focus has been on creating ideal conditions to support every phase of a bird’s lifecycle—from nesting season to raising young to making it through the winter. By arranging CRP grasslands around pivot-irrigated plots of crops such as corn, sorghum, wheat, and soybeans, the setup ensures that essential food sources are located right next to protective cover. This layout has been especially effective for sustaining bird numbers during periods of drought.

Quality Dove Hunt - All Inclusive - Priced Per Day
This property delivers exciting dove hunting opportunities. With the season kicking off on September 1st each year, hunters benefit from both local birds and migratory doves arriving from northern states when conditions push them south. Most hunts are set up around small ponds surrounded by bare ground—prime spots where doves regularly come in to drink during the early morning and late evening hours. Because the area is made up of sandy soil, natural water sources are limited, which funnels birds into just a few key locations and creates fast-paced action. The daily bag limit of 15 doves ensures there's plenty of opportunity to stay busy in the field. The day starts before sunrise with a hearty, home-cooked breakfast. After that, hunters head out to the pond setups. Motion decoys are used to draw birds in from surrounding fields of corn, wheat, soybeans, sunflowers, and milo. Well-trained Labrador retrievers assist with recovering downed birds. Once the morning flight tapers off around 10:30, it’s back to the lodge for a relaxing midday break and a freshly prepared lunch. The group then returns to the field around 3:30 p.m. for an afternoon hunt, when doves once again begin moving toward water. Capable of flying at speeds up to 55 mph, doves are agile and unpredictable in the air, offering a fun challenge even for experienced wingshooters. After the evening hunt wraps up, guests gather for a quality dinner and swap stories about the day’s highlights.

Wild Pheasant Hunt - All Inclusive - Priced Per Day
With a daily limit of 4 roosters per hunter, this property offers the highest pheasant harvest limits in the nation, giving you 33% more opportunities than what’s available in states like South Dakota. We are proud to offer some of the finest wild pheasant hunting in the world, thanks to our 12,000 acres of carefully managed land. This includes 6,000 acres of native grass CRP spread across 50 different fields, creating the ideal environment for pheasants to thrive—from nesting and brood rearing to winter survival. The foundation of pheasant habitat is well-maintained native grasses, which we take great care to manage. To ensure these grasslands remain optimal, we use controlled burns to prevent overgrowth and rank grass. We also use strip disking to create open spaces for broods to forage and develop, inter-seed to enhance legume and forb growth (which can increase insect numbers by up to 300%), and plant food plots to offer birds reliable nourishment during the fall and winter months.

4 Day / 4 Night Rio Grande Turkey Hunt - All Inclusive
Exceptional Rio Grande turkey hunts are available, with a range of unique opportunities across 12,000 acres of diverse habitat. The thrill of observing a mature tom approach a hunting blind, tail feathers fanned and gobbling in the crisp spring air, is an experience like no other. Hunters will need to use their skills and techniques to coax their target into the open, with the primary method being the imitation of a hen’s call to attract the toms. Mastery of the various calls, which total 28 distinct sounds such as clucks, yelps, gobbles, purrs, rattles, and cackles, is essential. Familiarity with the Rio Grande’s behaviors and calls, as with other subspecies, will greatly improve the chances of success.
