About Our Pronghorn Antelope Hunts in Wyoming

Most important info about these hunts—landscapes, strategies, costs, and comforts.

Summary & Terrain

Pronghorn antelope in Wyoming thrive on vast sagebrush flats, rolling grasslands, and lightly timbered draws across both private ranchlands and adjacent public ground. Hunts often take place on large private properties that offer secure access to quality antelope habitat, as well as on public parcels in classic pronghorn country. The open terrain allows long sight-lines, and hunters can glass from ridges or benches to locate bucks feeding in hayfields, along waterholes, or on grassy benches at dawn and dusk.

Difficulty & Strategy

These hunts are generally considered moderate in physical demand—most days involve glassing from stationary vantage points followed by spot-and-stalk approaches over gentle slopes. Archery hunters typically rotate between ground blinds at water sources and slow stalks through open meadows, while rifle hunters rely heavily on binocular glassing and deliberate, short-range approaches. Guides handle the logistics, field‐dress harvested animals, and tailor tactics to each hunter’s ability, making these hunts suitable for a wide range of experience levels.

Amenities

Pronghorn antelope hunts in Wyoming typically center around comfortable base camps, often in locally owned lodges or nearby hotels equipped with private rooms and modern climate control. A smaller number of outfitters offer rustic tent camps where hunters sleep on cots or basic bedding, warmed by wood-burning stoves. In all cases, accommodations provide reliable heating and cooling options—whether central HVAC in a lodge setting or stove-based heat in field camps—to ensure a restful night’s sleep ahead of the hunt. Bedding arrangements generally include standard beds at lodge properties, with tent setups offering simple yet functional sleeping platforms. Overall, the focus is on balancing convenience and comfort while maintaining easy access to prime pronghorn country.

Season & Additional Info

Archery season for pronghorn typically opens in mid-August and runs through early fall, with rifle seasons often beginning around October 1. Tags are obtained through state draw systems, requiring preference points for public‐land units, whereas private-land leases or ranch hunts often guarantee tag availability with minimal draw pressure. Most guided hunts span five days and include lodging, meals, guiding services, and field preparation of trophies. High success rates—often near 100% for rifle hunters—and average buck scores in the high-60s to mid-70-inch range make Wyoming pronghorn hunts both reliable and rewarding.

Pricing

Pronghorn antelope hunts in Wyoming average around $5,050 per hunter. Costs are driven by hunt duration, lodging style, guide ratio, and land access. Entry-level options typically run at the lower end of the scale and include shared-guide, two- to three-day hunts based out of rustic tent camps with basic cots and wood-stove heat. Mid-tier packages generally span three to four days, feature comfortable lodge or hotel accommodations with private rooms and climate control, inclusive meals, and small-group guiding. Top-tier hunts extend to four or five days on private ranches, offer upscale lodge lodging, one-on-one guiding, daily ground transport to prime pronghorn country, and full field care of trophies. In nearly all cases, meals, accommodations, and meat processing or donation are included in the price.
