Wood Duck
The Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) is a strikingly beautiful waterfowl native to North America, distinguished by its iridescent plumage, elongated neck, and unique crest. Males display vibrant colors, with a mix of green, blue, and chestnut, complemented by white throat markings and red eyes, while females exhibit more subdued hues with a characteristic white eye ring. Found near wooded swamps and ponds, Wood Ducks often prefer habitats with abundant vegetation for cover and nesting. When hunting this species, it’s crucial to understand their behavior; they are known for their impressive flying skills and tendency to roost in trees. This requires hunters to utilize well-concealed blinds and to approach with stealth, as Wood Ducks are easily spooked. Additionally, their relatively low population density may warrant a focus on ethical hunting practices to ensure sustainable levels and the preservation of their vibrant habitats.

Two-Day Duck Hunt Over Ponds
Our group offers the finest wild duck and goose hunting available in this area. Our ponds are designed and built for waterfowl hunting. We typically have good populations of mallards, gadwall, teal, and wood ducks that frequent our hunting areas.
In the regular waterfowl season, we only offer 2 day duck hunts and only have one 2 day hunt per week to limit hunting pressure. We can accommodate up to 10 hunters and require a minimum of 4 to book a hunt. Most of our permanent hunting areas have 2 spacious blinds that will accommodate up to 5 people and have been built to keep you out of inclement weather.

Duck Hunt on 7,000 Acres of Leased Properties
With access to over 7,000 acres of leases over a 35-mile area, Ducks-n-Dogs offers a wide array of Arkansas waterfowl hunting opportunities. From flooded fields of rice, beans, milo, and corn, to flooded timber, river sloughs, and cypress swamps we offer a variety of fully guided duck & goose hunting opportunities. Our guides scout the surrounding area daily to locate positions holding the largest concentrations of birds to assure you and your hunting group a great waterfowl hunting experience.
Generally, hunting is done out of skid blinds and pit blinds (although duck boats are sometimes used as conditions may dictate). Transportation to and from the blinds is provided by our Polaris crew cabs or 4-Wheelers. Most of our fields employ decoy spreads of anywhere between 100 - 500 decoys. Each group has its own professional guide and retrieving dog. All of our duck hunting guides are locals to the Stuttgart region, with life-long waterfowl hunting knowledge of the area. They are expert duck hunters and duck callers, and work hard to provide you with a successful and memorable Arkansas duck hunt.
Stuttgart, Arkansas offers some of the best flooded timber duck hunts in the nation. For many seasoned duck hunters, this is a dream hunt. At Ducks n Dogs, we hunt a variety of flooded timber holes around the lodge. The timing for a flooded timber hunt can be a little tricky, depending on water conditions, so contact us for more details about planning a hunt. Duck hunting in flooded timber is so exciting because there is nothing like watching a flock of distant ducks respond to an expert caller but flooded timber hunts offer a different type of excitement. As a pair wood ducks or mallards appear and start circling close, you suddenly see them multiply - it can feel like being surrounded by a swarm of bees. The buzzing builds until you’ve got flocks working in and out of the timber at many levels. There’s less need for calling with hunting flooded timber but the excitement is equal to any waterfowl hunt.
Waterfowl Hunting around Stuttgart: Be it a rice field, flooded timber (when conditions permit), cypress pond, or a secret honey-hole our guides will employ a lifetime of guiding and hunting knowledge to create the Best Duck Hunting experience in Arkansas. With a variety of waterfowl hunting opportunities, you will be shooting ducks and geese, supported by our highly trained duck hunting dogs.

Morning Duck + Afternoon Quail Combo Hunt
We offer 3 scheduled Quail and Duck Combination Hunts per hunting season. Normally we do the first scheduled quail and duck combination hunt on the second Saturday in December. The second and third quail and duck combination hunts are normally scheduled for early and late January. If you get lucky enough to get a spot on one of these quail and duck combination hunts you will be in for a treat if you like wing shooting. Years of waterfowl management normally produce an abundance of birds. Most hunters limit out on wood ducks while picking up some additional ducks and geese in certain areas. This quail and duck combination hunt includes lodging and supper the night before the scheduled combination hunt. The hunting guides will meet with the guest and confirm what time to meet in the main lodge for coffee and a continental breakfast.
