Long-Tailed Duck
The long-tailed duck, formerly known as oldsquaw, is a small, agile sea duck famous for its long, pointed tail feathers and melodic calls. Found on northern coasts and large inland lakes during migration and winter, they dive deeply for crustaceans and mollusks. Their fast, erratic flight patterns make them a challenging and exciting bird to hunt. Hunters pursue them from boats or rocky shorelines, often mixed with scoter and eider hunts.
