About Our Columbia White-Tailed Deer Hunts

Intro to this species—landscapes, strategies, costs, and comforts.

Hunt Features

Columbia White-tailed Deer hunts are premium, limited-tag experiences conducted on private ranchlands in western Oregon’s oak-savanna and pasture habitats. These guided, four-day outings include one-on-one guide service, lodging in comfortable ranch houses, and prepared meals, with all landowner tags and field-dressing services provided. Hunters typically employ spot-and-stalk tactics along fence lines, rolling hills, and open fields, enjoying close encounters and near-guaranteed harvest opportunities thanks to managed herd densities. With very few tags available each season, these hunts offer both the thrill of pursuing a once-endangered subspecies and the chance to complete a North American whitetail slam in a picturesque, well-supported setting.

Amenities

Columbia White-Tailed Deer hunts typically feature comfortable lodge accommodations with private or shared rooms furnished with beds. On-site meals are provided, allowing hunters to focus on the hunt rather than meal prep. Modern climate control systems maintain a pleasant indoor environment year-round, from cool fall mornings to milder afternoons. Lodges often include common areas for briefings and relaxation, plus dedicated spaces for gear storage and trophy processing, blending home-style comforts with practical support for both seasoned and first-time deer hunters.

4.5 Day Columbia Whitetail Deer Hunt in Oregon
In 1967 the Columbia Whitetail was put on the Federal Endangered Species list. Now for the first time in over 30 years, you can legally hunt the Columbia Whitetail!! Complete your updated North American Whitetail slam with the harvest of a Columbia Whitetail. We will be hunting four ranches, and only six tags are available. Don’t miss your chance to harvest this deer. Numbers are very good, and you will have a 100% opportunity to harvest a deer. The Columbia Whitetail hunts have been a very large success. Please visit the photo gallery to see the deer we have taken in the two-season we have been able to hunt this very rare North American Deer. The four-day Whitetail hunt includes your landowner tag, lodging and food, and one on one guide. Your license and tag fee to the state of Oregon are not included. Your stay with Fins and Feathers guide service will take place at the “ranch house”. The 4 bedroom 3 bath home is nestled in some of the most beautiful country that Douglas County has to offer. In the spring the surrounding hills and pastures are covered in fresh green grass. Oak trees covered in moss line the road to the lodge, among them you will find blooming daffodils in the spring and fall brings an array of autumn colors. No matter what season it is the setting is beautiful. The house has two televisions, one in the family room and the other in the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a separate entrance, deck, and hot tub. Each morning a guide will wake you up and let you know how much time you have until your departure. Ronnie, Craig’s mom, or Becky, will do the majority or the cooking during your stay. Occasionally the staff at Applebee’s pitches in. Breakfast will be available along with coffee and other beverages. Meals are flexible and we do our best to accommodate your taste. Lunch is always available; however it will not always be served at the house. If you are with us during Turkey season we may be eating in town at lunch time because a lot of the hunting leases are a bit of a drive from the house. Dinner will be served each evening when your hunt is complete. The house has two family rooms one with the television and the other a fireplace and two couches. Everyone here at the house strives to make your stay a lasting memory. We all enjoy what we do and getting to know all our guests. If you find pleasure in walking, the road’s on the ranch will be sure to satisfy you.
