About Our Specklebelly (White-Fronted) Goose Hunts in Arkansas

Most important info about these hunts—landscapes, strategies, costs, and comforts.

Summary & Terrain

Arkansas is renowned for world-class waterfowl hunting, and white-fronted ("specklebelly") goose hunts here leverage some of the most productive habitats in North America. Hunters will find themselves in flooded timber, flooded rice and bean fields, river holes, or purpose-built layout and skid-blinds along the rivers and agricultural flats of the Stuttgart region. In some lodges, afternoon speck hunts are offered on a limited, game-time basis for in-house guests, while most operations focus on early-day departures in well-appointed boats or side-by-sides to established blind sites. Lodges are typically full-service, with private rooms, an on-site chef, heated facilities and recreational amenities ranging from big-screen TVs and pool tables to sporting clays and guided fishing.

Difficulty & Strategy

Arkansas specklebelly hunts are moderately paced but demand sound calling, precise shooting, and effective decoy spreads—usually between 60 and 120 shells and decoys per blind. Guided hunts employ local experts who bring trained retrievers, extensive calling experience, and up-to-date scouting knowledge to pinpoint flocks. Layout blinds, pit blinds or portable skid-blinds allow hunters to adapt to changing water levels and feed patterns, while morning hunts generally wrap by mid-morning and afternoon opportunities run from early afternoon to sunset. Safety protocols are strict: firearms remain unloaded until the guide signals the shot, and hunters are coached on proper tag-out procedures and field dressing by seasoned guides.

Amenities

Specklebelly goose hunts in Arkansas are typically based out of comfortable lodges, each offering private or shared rooms with standard beds and full modern climate control for year-round comfort. Lodge facilities often include communal dining and staging areas, as well as dedicated space for cleaning and organizing gear. For hunters who prefer day-only trips, lodging is not included; guides provide transportation to and from morning and afternoon hunt sites, allowing participants to return to their own accommodations each evening. All setups prioritize convenience and rest, ensuring both newcomers and seasoned waterfowlers have reliable facilities between hunts.

Season & Additional Info

The white-fronted goose seasons in Arkansas typically coincide with peak duck migrations and extend from late fall through winter, offering dependable flocks when northern birds funnel into southern staging areas. Most lodges offer all-inclusive packages covering guided hunting, permits, field dressing, bird processing and packaging—often at no additional trophy fees. Youth hunters under 16 are welcome, often at reduced rates, encouraging families to introduce the next generation to waterfowling. Guests should bring valid state waterfowl licenses and shell tags; everything else from decoys and boats to hot breakfasts and chef-prepared dinners is handled by the outfitter, ensuring a turnkey experience from dawn flights to dusktime flights out of the blind.

Pricing

Specklebelly (white-fronted) goose hunts in Arkansas average around $975 per hunter. Lower-cost, day-only options—covering guided field transportation, decoys and boats but no lodge stay—sit at the bottom end of the price spectrum. Full-service packages that include 2–3 nights in a climate-controlled lodge, meals, guide-led scouting, layout boats, decoy setups and field-dressing support tend to cluster around the average or slightly above. Premium offerings with private rooms, smaller group sizes and extended shooting hours fall toward the higher end. All hunts provide professional guides, quality gear and the option to process or ship harvested birds through local processors.
