We think these three hunts should be at the top of your list.
Hawaiian Boar Hunt on Maui
Feral boars were introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in the 18th century by the island's first Polynesians, although some believe they were introduced by Captain Cook. Boars can survive in any terrain and condition, from tropical rainforest to high mountain deserts. They tend to move during the night and cool parts of the day. They have no natural predators and, if not hunted, will explode in population. Farmers are most impacted by the large boar population which eats the livestock feed and plows down crops. Feral boars can be extremely aggressive and are usually hunted with dogs.
Hunt includes a full day hiking adventure with hog dogs through Maui's most extreme landscapes for 1 Hawaiian boar.

About Our Wild Hog Hunts in Hawaii
Most important info about these hunts—landscapes, strategies, costs, and comforts.
Summary & Terrain
Wild hog (feral boar) hunts in Hawaii blend tropical scenery with rugged, often volcanic terrain. Introduced centuries ago by early Polynesians, feral hogs have thrived across the islands—from dense rainforest and coastal valleys to high-elevation grasslands and lava-rock slopes above 6,000 feet. Hunts typically take place on private ranch properties or remote cabins perched on volcanic flanks, giving hunters access to expansive areas where hogs roam freely alongside other game species. The varied habitat ensures each day brings new vistas and diverse hunting challenges.
Hog hunts range from moderate to physically demanding, depending on terrain and method. Because feral boars are primarily nocturnal, many hunts occur at first light or last light, using spot-and-stalk tactics with rifles or bows. Hunters may also employ ground blinds, treestands over travel routes, or even traditional bay-dog packs to track and corner hogs in thick cover. Expect brushy undergrowth, uneven lava fields, and steep ridges—good stamina and solid footing are essential. Guides provide local expertise on hog behavior, help glass from vantage points, and ensure safe shot placement on boars known for sharp tusks and aggressive defenses.
Wild hog hunts in Hawaii are most often offered as day hunts that start early and conclude by evening, so overnight lodging is not required for single-day outings. For those opting into multi-day packages, simple rustic cabins provide basic shelter and general bedding arrangements without specified linens or elaborate furnishings. Given the mild tropical climate, formal heating is unnecessary and air conditioning is rarely available; most cabins rely on open-air design, cross-ventilation or ceiling fans for comfort. Hunts remain guided by local experts, and all field care of harvested hogs is typically handled on site.
Hunting is available year-round, with most outfitters offering one- or two-day packages that include an experienced guide, field dressing, transport to remote camps, and meat-processing services. Some hunts allow taking multiple hogs, while others focus on trophy-sized boars with tusks up to five inches. Archery and rifle options are both common, and specialized “meat-only” hunts may be arranged at discounted rates. Whether you’re seeking a high-adrenaline bay-dog experience or a quiet spot-and-stalk in misty mountain forests, Hawaii’s wild hog hunts combine conservation-minded population control with a truly unique island adventure.
Guided wild hog hunts in Hawaii typically run around $1,875 on average. Single-day excursions start early and conclude by evening, making them the most budget-friendly option. Hunters who choose multi-day packages can expect modest additional costs for rustic cabin lodging and extended guide services. All outings include expert guidance, on-site field care of harvested hogs, and the convenience of day-use or overnight arrangements depending on the package selected.
FAQs
What you need to know before you book:
What type of terrain should I expect when hunting wild hogs in Hawaii?
Hunting wild hogs in Hawaii typically means navigating diverse tropical terrain. You’ll encounter open grasslands and pastures on ranchlands, dense kiawe and guava thickets, rolling volcanic hills, and sometimes steep gulches. The mild climate and early start times help manage heat, but hunters should be prepared for muddy or uneven ground, patches of thick underbrush, and occasional sharp lava rock outcrops.
What methods are commonly used to hunt wild hogs in Hawaii?
Guides in Hawaii employ a mix of spot-and-stalk and still-hunting techniques, moving quietly along game trails or edges of agricultural fields where hogs feed. Some outfitters also use well-trained bay dogs to track and corner hogs in heavier cover. Unlike some states, baiting is typically not emphasized—guides prefer active methods that take advantage of local knowledge of hog movement patterns.
Is hunting wild hogs in Hawaii a good fit for new hunters?
Yes. Hawaii’s guided day-hunt format is well suited for first-time hunters. Outfitters provide one-on-one guidance, teach basic tracking and shot placement, and handle field care of the animal on site. Since hunts conclude by evening and lodging isn’t required for single-day trips, newcomers can focus on learning without logistical stress. Basic fitness and a willingness to walk through uneven ground are all that’s needed to get started.

Molokai’s rugged terrain is home for a few different species of goats which originated from Southeast Asia and Europe. In the early 1700’s, goats were transported off the Spaniards shipwrecked boats off the coast of Hawaii and other species brought in by Westerners. Like the pigs, these Spanish goats were all domesticated at one time. Through the years, they have adapted to different environments around Hawaii. There are over 300 species of goats in world today, and they continue to evolve depending on their environment. On Molokai, these wild goats have genetically blended into a few different shapes of trophies. Some of these goats throw horns better known as ibex goats, and others carry more of the wide twisted turns. The black Hawaiian goat also makes a great hunting adventure and a beautiful addition to your trophy list. There are NO trophy fees for this hunt.

Wild Hawaiian Hog Hunting - Crossbow, Compound Bow, or Dog & Knife
The Hawaiian Islands are known for their beautiful lush forest with an abundance of Hawaiian exotic plants and animals. The forest has also been a home for a few different species of wild boar. History has been told that the pua’a or pig was brought to Hawaii by Captain Cook, as a walking food substance for their journey in the late 1700’s. Through the years, these pigs have been genetically altered by breeding with other species that were introduced to the islands. In the past, the pigs caught show some of these different genetic traits. Wild pigs cause extreme damage to Hawaii’s rainforest eco-system. Hunters help keep the wild pig population under control by eradication. We offer some of the best hog hunting in the Hawaiian Islands. All of these hunts take place on private land (cattle ranches). We hunt hogs from a treestand, ground blind, or spot stalk method--whichever you prefer or based on your capability.
HOW GOOD IS THE HOG HUNTING?: We measure our success based on the opportunity we provide our hunters at game that is in range and a reasonable shot for them to take. You can figure that the average hunter will encounter around 6 hogs during a one day hunt. This does not mean that you will see 6 hogs on your hunt and we do not guarantee the amount of game that you will see. It simply means this is the average per hunter. Some hunters will see 12 or more, some 8, some 4, and on a rare occasion 1 or none. However the average during the season is around 6 hogs per hunt. Hunters physical condition and ability can also factor in the amount of game they will see and what they harvest. Make no mistake you have an excellent chance at harvesting a great hog. As a bonus, we allow you to harvest 2 hogs during your hunt as well!
