2x1 Guided Merriam's Turkey Hunt

The turkeys we hunt are primarily in remote areas and live many miles from human civilization. Unlike Nebraska or other transplant States, these are truly "wild turkeys." They live in their natural forested, mountain habitat with no food plots, no farm fields, no feeders or other human influence. Since Merriam's are mountain dwelling turkeys, our hunts take place in the Ponderosa Pine forests at elevations around 6500 to 8500 feet. The mountainous hunt area has breathtaking scenery and great temperatures of around 75 degrees in the day and 40 degrees at night. Arizona Shotgun Spring Season Merriam's turkey tags are on a lottery draw. We typically hunt for northern Arizona Merriam's turkey within public land, such as the Coconino National Forest. These are fully-guided turkey hunts. Hunters are led into the field daily by an experienced Merriam's turkey guide in order to provide the highest chances for success. Our guides are very familiar with the area, terrain, where the birds hang-out, and more importantly, the techniques needed to effectively hunt native mountain Merriam's turkeys. We conduct 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 turkey hunts, but to increase odds of harvesting, each hunter should consider having their own guide. If choosing 2-on-1, it is a requirement that you bring the other hunter to share the guide with. If you cannot find a hunting partner, you will have your own personal guide and get the 1-on-1 rate. We keep camp sizes to a minimum to ensure the utmost quality of the hunting experience. Northern Arizona is home to the Merriam’s wild turkey, whereas southern Arizona is where the Gould's turkey resides. Historically, the Merriam's turkey was only found in 3 states: Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Merriam's have been transplanted from these three states to many parts of the country, but a unique place to hunt them is in their indigenous area. Arizona turkeys are wild and native birds. This is where the Merriam's originated, so they are pure. There is no hybridization in our areas like some other areas of the country that offer Merriam's turkey hunting. Characteristics: The bright colors of the Arizona Merriam's turkey will amaze hunters that are only familiar with the other turkey subspecies. Merriam's have a cream-white accent on the outer edge of the tail feathers and rump, unlike the Eastern, Osceola, and Rio Grande turkeys (Gould's typically have pure white). It's light colored tail tips are an intermediate between the tan Rio's and the white Gould's. The primary wing feathers are mostly white with small black accent bars (the opposite is true with the wing barring on the other 3 sub-species).

Western Illinois Free Range Whitetail Hunt - Archery Pre-Rut

The acres your hunt will take place on are very strictly managed. South Fork hunters are required to harvest at minimum 140 inch, 3 ½ year old bucks. Having these practices in place for years has only made a good thing that much better. In addition to the doe’s that our hunters harvest, we take heard surveys that enable us to go through late season and remove doe’s in highly populated areas. As a whole – the areas you will be hunting have an excellent doe-to-buck ratio (2 or 3-to-1). Hunter to acre ratio is also very important. Low pressure is a huge part of harvesting mid-west whitetail deer. Here at South Fork, we keep ample ground for the numbers of hunters we run, with some farms not being hunted for entire seasons. This is all to ensure South Fork ground will remain the best of the best. We take stand location very seriously. This is crucial when getting close to giant Illinois bruisers. The wind and thermals are taken into consideration on every set. The stand set ups are for stealth entry and exits. Stand location is one of the biggest keys to a successful hunt- second only to having a piece of great managed whitetail ground. All stands are set by South Fork Guides that have years of experience and the bucks to prove it! The rule of thumb we live by is “if we wouldn’t hunt it, we won’t hang it!” We are as excited to get you into the stand that we hung, as you are to be in it. It’s like we are hunting with you. Our sets consist of hang–on’s with climbing sticks (20′-25′); ladder stands (16′-20′); shooting houses (7′-10′); and assorted ground blinds. We utilize over 70+ Shadowhunter Blinds to provide our gun hunters with a comfortable and solid shooting setup. We put you up close and personal, it’s just a matter of time before a big shooter reveals himself. All hunts are completely free range with no high fences in the “Golden Triangle” of Illinois- Pike, Adams, and Hancock counties. Your stay with Fins and Feathers guide service will take place at the “ranch house.” The 4 bedroom 3 bath home is nestled in some of the most beautiful country that Douglas County has to offer. In the spring the surrounding hills and pastures are covered in fresh green grass. Oak trees covered in moss line the road to the lodge, among them you will find blooming daffodils in the spring and fall brings an array of autumn colors. No matter what season it is the setting is beautiful. The house has two televisions, one in the family room and the other in the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a separate entrance, deck, and hot tub. Each morning a guide will wake you up and let you know how much time you have until your departure. Ronnie, Craig’s mom, or Becky, will do the majority or the cooking during your stay. Occasionally the staff at Applebee’s pitches in. Breakfast will be available along with coffee and other beverages. Meals are flexible and we do our best to accommodate your taste. Lunch is always available; however it will not always be served at the house. If you are with us during Turkey season we may be eating in town at lunch time because a lot of the hunting leases are a bit of a drive from the house. 300 Acre Hunting Preserve Hog Hunt, <100 lbs

A guided spot and stalk hog hunt consists of 1 hunter on 1 guide or 2 hunters on 1 guide in the spot and stalk scenarios. The hunting preserve area is approximately 300 acres so be prepared for a little walking. There are stands and ambush points the guides can direct you to if a hunter isn’t physically able to walk. This is a challenging hog hunt that is great for introducing young or inexperienced hunters to the outdoors. The hog hunting guides will help teach guests how to maneuver through the woods undetected on well-worn game trails and the hog hunters will learn how to use the wind and patience on approach. We provide shooting sticks for rifle hunters. We allow hunters to choose their weapon of choice. While on a typical spot and stalk hog hunt your guide will predetermine a time for continental breakfast at the main lodge and then depart shortly afterward for the hunting grounds. We have had multiple hogs taken over the years on the way to the hunting location so the hunter could experience an added bonus. Once arriving to their hog hunting spots, the guide will then lead the way and help you stalk into your competent shooting range. This hog hunt is also great for large parties of hunters. The guides will safely divide the hunting area into zones and communicate together to help track moving boar and hopefully ensure success for their clients. After the hunt, the guides will load the hog or hogs and take them back to our processing facility so the meat can be prepared for transport or placed into our walk-in coolers until time for departure.

Our exclusive guided predator hunts are offered on a daily rate basis or in multiple days. On our Arizona guided predator trips, we recommend our clients to book more than one day to pile up your Fur-Slam on your trip. A typical day of predator hunting takes place around either northern, eastern, & southern Arizona, and or on private ranches within the state in the higher & low desert areas in the heart of Arizona. When you see the eyes shining and hear the howling in the distance be prepared for some adrenaline flowing, heart pounding, and some quick shooting when the yotes come charging in! Whether you are a seasoned veteran, or looking for your first Predator Night Hunt we can cater a hunt to meet your needs. We offer custom guided night hunts from after sunset for 4.5 hours. Or you have the option of a half day/half night hunt at an additional price. Our night hunts are conducted from December through the end of May. Arizona's Rim Country, including the high and low desert areas holds the most diverse predator habitat in the world. Our variety of predators ranges from coyotes, gray foxes, to bobcats, and majestic mountain lions as well. Predator hunting during the prime-time season or during the off-season or in between our big game hunts. Experience a true predator pursuit like none other in the southwest. Guiding the veteran predator hunter or instructing the beginner hunter is our passion. It is also a proven wildlife management tool for controlling the predator population in our prime hunting areas. Coyotes and foxes mostly fall victim to the call, but occasionally, a bobcat will stalk in to check out the situation. Be prepared for some point blank extreme excitement and fast shooting when any of these critters come charging or creeping into the stand. Bolt rifles & AR platform rifles are preferred for our trips since we hunt in the open country and these critters tend to be wary. Shot guns we prefer is a 12 gauge with 3" spread with #4 buck shot will do the job when we hunt the thick country. Ranges could be anywhere from point blank using a shot gun and out to 300 yards taken on centerfire shots, but the average shots taken is under 100 yards. Rimfire cartridges such as 17WSM, 22WMR, 22 Hornet, Centerfire cartridges .204, .223, .22-250, .243, .308, or the 6.5 will get it done. DATES: This hunt is available from December through the end of May. SUCCESS: Our Arizona Guided Predator Day/Night trips are currently running at 100% harvest rate with a 100% shot opportunity. Backcountry Rut Hunt for Trophy Moose

Alaska Moose Hunting with Willie Dvorak, Master Guide Guided moose hunting in Alaska can be a thrill of a lifetime. The hunts take place in September during the start of the rut. Calling a big bull into range is one of the most amazing things you will ever see. It is also one of the most exciting ways of hunting them. The Alaskan moose is the biggest of all moose. Great mass and wide spreads make an awe inspiring site on any trophy room wall. Moose have to be 50 inches wide or support 4 brow tines in this area to be legal. This helps insure trophy animals for next season and insures that any animal that is legal is a real trophy. It should be said that many hunters feel a moose is a “gimme” animal. This is not the case. Nor is it the case that a bull needs to be 60 inches wide to be a great trophy. The media has promoted this idea to the extent that they have taken something away from the sport of moose hunting. The first bull I ever killed was a young bull standing at 18 yards that I took with a bow on the first day of my first trip. The second bull I killed was a beautiful 56 inch bull that I shot with a .300 Win Mag at less than 100 yards on the second day of my second trip. Not all hunts are that easy. Be assured, a legal bull is a huge animal and to fill your moose tag in the wilds of Alaska will be a feat you will remember for the rest of your life. I recommend a minimum caliber of 30-06 for moose. The shots on moose are typically less than 100 yards. When you are planning a trip like this, it makes a lot of sense to be well practiced at further distances also. This year Craig and I decided to expand our usual hunting season and species. Fall and Spring Black Bear is definitely not something that either one of us has mastered. So as an introductory hunt we are offering it at a reduced price per day and kill fee. The kill fee does not change with the size of the bear. In the Spring Black Bears here in Oregon spend a lot of time grazing the south-facing slopes, eating skunk cabbage, and other easily accessible food sources. The warmer weather in the spring tends to bring them out in a hurry, one day they aren’t there and the next they are. The spring hunt will be very dependent on the weather as are most hunts regardless of the species. More than 75% of the hunting will be conducted on public ground. Douglas and Coos County have high bear populations and the chances of you harvesting a nice mature bear are good. In the fall the hunting will be focused again around their easily accessible food sources such as salmonberries and blackberries. Your stay with Fins and Feathers guide service will take place at the “ranch house”. The 4 bedroom 3 bath home is nestled in some of the most beautiful country that Douglas County has to offer. In the spring the surrounding hills and pastures are covered in fresh green grass. Oak trees covered in moss line the road to the lodge, among them you will find blooming daffodils in the spring and fall brings an array of autumn colors. No matter what season it is the setting is beautiful. The house has two televisions, one in the family room and the other in the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a separate entrance, deck, and hot tub. Each morning a guide will wake you up and let you know how much time you have until your departure. Ronnie, Craig’s mom, or Becky, will do the majority or the cooking during your stay. Occasionally the staff at Applebee’s pitches in. Breakfast will be available along with coffee and other beverages. Meals are flexible and we do our best to accommodate your taste. Lunch is always available; however it will not always be served at the house. If you are with us during Turkey season we may be eating in town at lunch time because a lot of the hunting leases are a bit of a drive from the house. Dinner will be served each evening when your hunt is complete. The house has two family rooms one with the television and the other a fireplace and two couches. Everyone here at the house strives to make your stay a lasting memory. We all enjoy what we do and getting to know all our guests. Top Notch Snow Goose Hunting in Maryland - Half Day Hunt

Centrally located between the huge tidal marshes of southern New Jersey and endless cornfields of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Delaware winters close to 500,000 snow geese annually. Delaware is home to two major snow geese roosts- the 16,000 acre Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge (Kent County) and the 9,900 acre Prime Hook Nationals Wildlife refuge. (Sussex County) Combined these refuges host over 400,000 snow geese each fall. Both refuges provide large fresh water impoundments and tidal marshes for snow geese. We currently lease over 30 farms in Kent and Sussex county. We have farms covering a large area both close to and farther inland from the refuges. Since we have hunted these areas for over twenty years, we have leased only the best farms used by wintering snow geese. Snow goose hunting requires a huge amount of decoys. We use mostly full bodies and some silo socks. More so than any other waterfowl, huge spreads of decoys are an important part to harvest snow geese. Being on the ‘X” is most important but we have had a lot of good hunts (25-50 birds) just getting under the birds and hunting traffic. 200 decoys was deadly ten years ago but today 1500 – 2000 decoys are needed for those same results. Your guide will meet you at the hotel or at an assigned place at an assigned time. From the hotel you will follow your guide to the farm. Have your snacks, coffee, and refreshments ready for your morning hunt as we will not be stopping at a convenience store. Everyone will help in setting up the decoy spread. The guide calls all the shots. At the end of the hunt, everyone helps picking up the decoys.

7-Day Archery Elk Hunt

These are among the most rugged Montana elk hunts, and we often describe them as “extreme” hunts. Our hunts are guided in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Swan Valley areas of Montana off of horseback. Our guides and horses have been preparing and getting shape all summer long on backcountry pack trips; elk season is what they’ve been waiting for! Archery hunting elk, requiring close proximity to the animal, is, by its very nature, quite different from hunting these animals using a rifle. Successful archery hunts require excellent calling abilities and guides who know the difference between techniques utilized for archery versus rifle hunts. Archery hunts necessitate minimizing overexposure of hunting areas and minimizing scent control and noise. For these reasons, we only take two hunters to each of our “archery only” designated areas. We have experimented with various styles of guided archery elk hunts and we believe we have landed upon an offering that delivers the ultimate archery elk hunting experience in Montana. Even though the season is actually longer, we focus solely on the time frame surrounding the rut to maximize our opportunity: we offer three sessions of 7-day archery only hunts. Note that this boils down to 5 days of solid hunting as the rest of the time is spent getting to and from the area. We employ two-on-one guiding as we have found it is the best way to maximize our hunters' opportunities to be successful. With limited space, our archery elk hunts are the first to book up. We typically have been booked two years in advance, so don’t wait! Our elk herds are in better shape today than they have been in thirty years! Our hunting areas also support ample populations of whitetail and mule deer and color phase black bear, increasing the chances of success across species. Montana Combo Elk + Mule Deer Hunt Using 4x4 Trucks, 5.5 Days, 70K Private Acres

This is a unique hunt on private land where hunts are conducted out of 4x4 trucks, making it feasible for elderly folks or those with difficulty walking. We have been operating out of our Candy Dan Camp for over 25 years. Constructed on the private ranch we hunt, located some 65 miles south of Great Falls, our base camp consists of a newly constructed cook house built in 2013, equipped with a full kitchen, buffet table, couches, hot and cold water, and a custom dining table for up to 12 hunters, three cabins for sleeping quarters for the hunters, a sauna house, and sleeping quarters for the guides. DL Elk Outfitters conducts guided rifle elk hunts on over 70,000 private acres in the Big Belt Mountains in central Montana. These private lands are home to some of Montana’s largest resident elk herds. We are not dependent on migrations or heavy snows to push the elk out of areas we cannot hunt, giving our hunters a high chance of success. The country is rich in large grass meadows for feed to ridges and draws of timber, making excellent habitat. 4-5 Hour Professional Iguana Hunt With Dogs

Kodiak Island Sitka Black-Tailed Deer Hunt

All Deer hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success, with many cases, a packer is added for those extended missions. Deer can be hunted from a small cabin or spike camp from my guide use area on the south end of Kodiak Island. Spike camps are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike tent camp are 8’X8’ and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Deer hunting during August and September can find bucks up high on mountain ridges 500 to 1500 foot levels. But during the months of October, November you can find bucks in the low line areas and the foothills, which will make hunting much easier. Once your trophy Deer is taken, it is then tagged, caped, meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Deer meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Kodiak City, that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Deer meat back with you, the meat will be donated to local elders or local charity, never wasted. Once Deer cape and antlers are back at the spike camp, cape is fleshed, ears, lips, nose are turned, it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of the season. They make up for the smaller rack size by being one of the most handsome species in the world. These thick, smaller deer have a dark, almost black forehead with a double white throat patch and rich chestnut colored antlers and beautiful black tipped tail. They are arguably the most hearty deer on the planet, thriving in one of the most unique and challenging habitats on earth. Most Sitka Black Tail Deer on Kodiak weight between 150 and 200 pounds.

Private Land, Central Florida Whitetail Hunt - 4 Day, includes two Wild Hogs!

Our Florida whitetail deer hunts are conducted on approximately 9,800 acres of private land. All land is quality managed and has been since the early 1930's. Clients are encouraged to harvest mature whitetails; however, we do follow the state of Florida rules and regulations minimum requirement of 3 points on one side for antlered deer. At Black Tine Outfitters we don't have second jobs, we maintain feeders, food plots, and mineral sites on a yearly basis. We believe this provides a valuable food source and helps in keeping a stable and healthy herd. Combined with over 40 years of experience hunting and guiding throughout the state of Florida, rest assured that Black Tine Outfitters can put you where the deer are. We offer several different hunting packages including whitetail deer and wild hog combo hunts. Everything from 2-day hunts to 5-day hunts. We utilize ladder stands, shooting houses, and ground blinds to ensure your safety is first priority. All transportation to and from hunting locations is provided, including extraction, cleaning, and quartering of harvested game. You will also find that we do not believe in trophy fees. Over the years we have had several clients harvest whitetails scoring in the mid 130 to low 140 class range with no additional trophy fees applied. The Seminole whitetail can be very challenging. It is often compared to hunting its sub-species the coues deer to the west. Terrain is thick and oftentimes marshy. Florida's unpredictable climate combined with its extreme humidity can make the practice of quality scent control almost impossible. The rut season for the Seminole whitetail can also be very unpredictable as our seasonal temperatures can vary dramatically day to day causing the rut to inconsistently "turn on" and "turn off." Clients are encouraged to take their hunt seriously and apply the basic fundamentals of whitetail hunting to their hunt with us as harvesting a mature Seminole whitetail can be difficult but is also a well-respected trophy. The average 4 1/2 year old buck harvested on our farms typically scores between 100"-115" and will weigh approximately 145-170 lbs depending on the time of year.

Elevations range from 8,000′ to 11,400′ across this terrain, covering the movement of the elk from their summer habitat to their winter ranges across the hunting seasons.
