Wolverine Hunt With Horses or Snowmobiles (Sep-Mar)

These hunts are conducted primarily by snowmobile in GMU’s 13 and 20. I run three different traplines encompassing over three hundred miles. If the hunter would like an opportunity to harvest a Lynx or Wolverine they will have to come join me in the dead of the Alaskan winter (December – February). I won’t promise warm weather but I will guarantee you some of the most scenic snowmobiling on earth and lots of it! Wolf hunting Alaska style is always rewarding. We will do some calling for predators as well as setting traps and snares in locales that are likely spots to produce results. Typically we will snowmobile between 50-150 miles a day in search of Wolves, Wolverine, Lynx, Coyote and Fox. If you are looking to only do wolf hunting in Alaska then later in the winter is the prime time. We will stay at several of my cabins for two and three day stints looking for predators to call and/or trap. These hunts have become increasingly popular over the years so much so that I can’t even break away to attend a show to promote my business. If the hunter wants to harvest some of the most luxurious fur on the face of the earth then this hunt is for you.

Feral boars were introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in the 18th century by the island's first Polynesians, although some believe they were introduced by Captain Cook. Boars can survive in any terrain and condition, from tropical rainforest to high mountain deserts. They tend to move during the night and cool parts of the day. They have no natural predators and, if not hunted, will explode in population. Farmers are most impacted by the large boar population which eats the livestock feed and plows down crops. Mountain Lion Hunt, 2x1

Montana has some great areas for hunting big Toms and is one of few states to allow hunting mountain lion (a.k.a. cougar, puma). We utilize experienced hounds men and dogs to “tree” cats. Since these hunts begin in December, you’ll be treated to very comfortable accommodations with meals provided. See Lodge details here. This is a unique experience and we have great trophy cats. Hunting mountain lions is totally different than hunting for elk, deer or bear. Your day begins as early as 1:00 am, you’ll have a light breakfast and join our houndsman who will instruct you on how to “cut” a track. Tracking a mountain lion involves driving or snowmobiling through a myriad of US Forest Service and private timber company roads, using spotlights mounted to the cat truck, and trying to eyeball a track from many yards away. Once a track is found, dogs are put on it to see if it carries a scent. If so, they’re off and the race is on! It can take several hours for the dogs to find and tree the cat. Once the cat is treed, the hunter’s work begins – they must find the dogs and the treed cat in time before it escapes. If we haven’t treed a cat by 4:00 pm, we typically quit for the day as we don’t want to hunt in the dark. At this point, hunters have the remainder of the afternoon to relax, tour around the area or rest up. The duration of your Montana mountain lion hunt is typically 5 days. However, we can extend a hunt up to 10 days using daily rates if we haven’t got a hunter his or her cat. While there are never guarantees in hunting, the success rate for our Montana mountain lion hunts has been nearly 100% in the past. The skill of our dogs, the quality of the area we have rights to hunt in, and the quality and skill of the houndsmen we employ all play a role in our success rates at Swan Mountain Outfitters. Since mountain lion hunts in Montana take place during the winter months, hunters have access to a variety of exciting winter activities that can be added on to the front or back end of their hunt. Florida March & Swamp Duck Hunt, 3 Days of Hunting, 2-Person Minimum

Hunting the marshes and swamps of Lake Okeechobee for ducks is an experience in itself. Not only do we hunt on the famous Lake Okeechobee, we also hunt various public water lakes and rivers as well as private land. On our private waters, we hunt a mixture of swamps on private ranches and big reservoirs on dairies. We chase the ducks so each hunt could be in a different location. On day one we might run the airboat in the shallow marshes of Lake Okeechobee. The next morning take the mud boat out into some open water to try ringers, then pack up and go to a private dairy to hunt in a reservoir to knock down some black bellies. 5-Day Trophy Blacktail Hunt on Private - OTC Tags

2M Hunting offers blacktail deer hunting trips on the central coast of California in San luis Obispo Monterey and San Benito Counties. Our ranches range from rolling oaks to steep rocks and open grasslands. Hunters can expect to see 5 to 10 bucks per day. Most of the time spent on this hunt is moving from spot to spot glassing canyons and ridges looking for that mature Blacktail Buck. The Hunt will take place in southern A zone which is an “over the counter” tag. The A Zone Rifle Blacktail Deer season starts on the second Saturday in August and runs for 45 consecutive days. Deer hunts are scheduled for three full days; additional days can be added. Maximum of Two hunters. This hunt is fully outfitted and includes lodging, meals, and transportation. Hunting them provides great excitement and a trip you will never forget. The brown bear season starts in August. I conduct hunts through the end of September in southwestern Alaska. I specialize in hunting the big brown bears. These bears are big, powerful and must be respected. My hunting area boasts a high brown bear population density. If you have ever wanted to take a brown bear, come hunting with me. I hunt out of spike camps. This puts us close to where the action is. We will be camped where preseason scouting has indicated bear activity and where I believe we can hunt effectively. We will do all of our hunting on these hunts in hunting boots, not waders, and do a lot of glassing hillsides, mountains, and drainages. Unless other arrangements are made, I will be your guide. In a perfect world, an employee would care about the business as much as the owner. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. I do all of my own guiding unless other arrangements are made. It is comforting for you to know that the guy who is cashing your check (me) is the same guy who will accompany you in the field (me). I put my reputation on the line every time I cash a check. When researching a hunt, you should ask to speak with ALL of the clients who hunted the same time you are considering hunting the previous year. It is foolish to consider booking a hunt with an outfitter before you speak with hunters who have hunted the same time and place during the previous season. It is important to know ahead of time what you are getting for your money. I am proud of the attention I give each client before, during, and after the hunt. Public Land Bull Elk, Deep Backcountry Hunt, Primitive Setup

In the eastern part of the San Luis Valley, located in GMU 82, The Great Sand Dunes National Preserve offers 32,000 acres of over-crowed elk also known as the “sand dunes herd”. On this hunt, you will be packing in horseback and staying in a tent with wood stove. Hunting packages are available for archery and rifle. Hunts are fully guided for 5 days, but plan on arriving a day or two early to get into the base camp and staying a day later if wanting to hunt the full 5 days. Our guided pack-in sand dune hunts will take place in prime country for trophy bull elk. Elevation ranges between 8,500-12,000 feet in the sand dunes. These areas typically contain aspen groves and deep drainages. Our pack-in camps reside in several different locations . The base camps are off the grid and anywhere from a two to eight hour horseback ride. Once you arrive to the spike camp, hunting will be done mainly on foot everyday. A day on this hunt begins with your guides cooking breakfast, starting fires, and prepping gear for the day. After which, you will begin to head to the hunting location at where you will spend most of the day. Alabama has many different land features from meadows and fields to wooded forest and rugged terrains of low mountains, all lending to fantastic dove shooting. When it comes to dove hunting in Alabama has over fifty-one thousand square miles of land to choose from, however, few places compare to our lodge (though, we might be a bit biased). The dove is part of the pigeon family and is almost worldwide in distribution. While most abundant in warm, tropical countries, they are prevalent enough in Alabama to provide a most memorable shooting experience. Dove hunting in Alabama is similar to most areas, where the game birds dwell in trees or on the ground and feed on seeds, fruit and insects. The distinctive rapid flight speed makes shooting a challenge, and for this reason many sportsmen make a point to go out in search for the dove’s cooing each fall. Hunters interested in dove shooting Alabama can recognize this game bird by its distinctive physical features: small head, short neck, stout body with short legs, sleek greyish plumage and the trademark fleshy protuberance at the base of the bill. Dove shooting is often done when the birds fly to or from their roost, or nesting area; a dove will build a loose, nearly flat nest of twigs, bark, straw, and weeds. Dove hunting in Alabama revolves almost completely around the mourning dove, as you will not find other species in this region. Pronghorn are found through the state but the quality of these bucks are located in the northern & eastern part of the state. Our most productive method of hunting these unique animals is Spot and Stock. On this particular hunt we spend a great deal of time glassing, trying to locate the buck of your choice. The key to harvesting a quality buck on these hunts is the preseason scouting with the addition and the ability to accurately field judge these bucks correctly. We hunt the open country, cedar flats, and the tall pines of northern & eastern Arizona, so long distance shooting is a must. It is not uncommon to take rifle shots over 400 yards on a antelope. We recommend a flat shooting rifle cartridge, a good high-power rifle scope and a mounted bi-pod, or a tall standing tripod. 10-Day Tsiu River Brown Bear and Black Bear Hunt in Cardova - Spring

All Brown Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Brown Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Brown Bear country can be in a variety of areas, from 5000 foot mountain tops to the coastal areas of the North gulf coast. I have a saying, bears are where bears are, which can be everywhere. Once your trophy is taken, it is tagged, skinned peeled and then packed out to the extraction point. Once Brown Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, it is fleshed, ears and lips are turned, along with knuckles and tail out, it is than salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of my spring season. With the abundance of a rich food source at the Tsiu, the Brown Bears naturally grow big. We have taken many 10 foot plus bears over the year with many skulls over 28 plus. At the Tsiu, we hunt Brown Bears April through May and September through October. The Tsiu area permits each hunter to harvest one Brown each regulatory year, which does not count against the harvest of one (l) Brown every (4) years, like in other parts of Alaska. (Ursus Arctos- Latin Name) With the abundance of a rich food source in the Cordova area, such as Salmon, Moose, Mt Goats and unlimited sea life along the coast, the Brown Bears can reach weights of up to 1500 pounds. Here at the Cordova area, we hunt Brown Bears April through May and September through October. My guide use area near Cordova consist of several land owners, such as Chugach National Forest Service, BLM and State of Alaska lands, in which I am fully permitted for to conduct guide hunts. This guide use area that we hunt on, permits each hunter to harvest one Brown each regulatory year, which does not count against the harvest of one (l) Brown every (4) years, like in other parts of Alaska (like Kodiak Island and Alaskan Peninsula). Here at the Tsiu River Lodge we strive to take male brown bear 9 foot or larger and have taken many bears 10 foot plus over the year with many skulls over 28 plus, with some over 29 inches. Remember, one of my goals as your professional hunter, is for you to achieve your trophy of course. But the most important goal for me as your professional hunter, is to conduct a safe, enjoyable, most of all, memorable safari adventure. (Ursus Americanus- Latin Name) With plenty of food near the coastal areas of Cordova, our Black Bear have always been plentiful in the Cordova area, both during the spring and fall hunts. As always, we have goals, trying to achieve 6 foot or better, with an occasional 8 footer taken. Black Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. But many times it’s a great starter hunt for the new young hunter to compatibility their parents or guardian. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Black Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Again, Black Bear habitat varies from high covered snow peaks of their denning areas to the coastal grass areas near the coastal areas, during April, May and June. During the fall, most bears are hunted where berries are plentiful, either high up in the mountainous hillsides or low coastal areas where sometimes berries are thick. Once your trophy is taken, and it is then tagged, skinned and peel, the meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Black Bear meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Cordova, that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Black Bear meat back with you, the meat will be donated to a local elders or local charity in Cordova, never wasted. Once the Black Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, hide is fleshed, ears, lips, nose, tail is turned and knuckles are out, it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of the season.

We have been operating out of our Candy Dan Camp for over 25 years. Your stay with Fins and Feathers guide service will take place at the “ranch house”. The 4 bedroom 3 bath home is nestled in some of the most beautiful country that Douglas County has to offer. In the spring the surrounding hills and pastures are covered in fresh green grass. Our outfit is pleased to offer quality hunting trips for the Coues Whitetailed Deer in southern Arizona near Tucson. The Coues Deer is considered one of the most prized and most challenging deer species for North American trophy hunters. This petite deer is the smallest huntable sub-species of the whitetailed deer and weighs between 70 - 100 lbs. dressed out. Mature bucks normally have 8 total points on the rack. The minimum Coues deer score for Pope and Young is 70 inches and the minimum score for Boone and Crockett is 110 inches. The Coues Whitetail is classified under a separate category in all record books because of it’s small, tight rack. Even the World's Record typical Coues deer (144-1/8" B&C taken by Ed Stockwell in 1953) would not make it into the Boone and Crockett book if scored and categorized under the Eastern whitetail standards. That is the reason for the separate category for this unique deer species. Hunters that have taken all the species in the "deer slam" usually consider the Coues deer one of most rewarding and most beautiful trophies. Our Coues hunts are conducted in the vast, rugged desert mountains of southeastern Arizona, with Tucson being the closest major city. If you are a bowhunter, we offer two time choices: an early archery deer hunt in August through mid-September and a rut archery season in January. The early season during Aug-Sept is mainly conducted sitting a water hole. The January rut archery season is a bit more challenging and can be considered the ultimate "spot-and-stalk" deer hunt! Our rut Coues deer bowhunting takes place from January 1 through January 31. There are no trees in classic Coues deer country, which leaves out treestand hunting as a January technique. Our guides use glassing methods to locate a good buck. Once a good Coues buck is located, it is then carefully stalked to within a comfortable distance. Carefully stalking involves staying out of sight, walking lightly on the loud, crunchy, brush-choked, gravel ground to avoid noise, and always keeping the wind in your favor. Once into position, the archery hunter waits patiently for the right moment to release an arrow. If the bucks are rutting hard, rattling, grunting and/or doe bleats will sometimes bring the buck closer for an opportunity to release an arrow. Since it is a spot and stalk hunt, archery shots tend to be in the 30 to 60 yard range. The further you can shoot a bow accurately, the higher your chances for success. Our guided Coues bowhunters see many bucks during this rut hunt. Hunters typically make 1 to 3 stalks per day. Most of our archery coues hunters release arrows at bucks. Getting a Coues deer with a bow though, ultimately "boils-down" to the archery hunter's ability to use good stalking techniques. Archery deer hunts are 5 days in duration (instead of 4). We conduct an early archery season (Aug-Sept) and a late season (January). August archery deer hunts may be combined with archery bear (In that case, the total hunt cost would be the current bear hunt rate), if you so choose to purchase an OTC bear tag. January hunts can be combined with javelina during the first 3 weeks of January, if you so choose to apply for and draw a javelina tag. Archery deer tags are over the counter for residents, but are limited for nonresidents (on a first-come, first-serve basis online). Our success rate for Archery Coues hunts is typically double that of the general public's archery Coues success rate. Most of our archery harvests would make the Pope and Young minimum.

Arizona Guided Hunts also offers hunting options for the desert mule deer, primarily in southern Arizona. Mule deer hunting in Southern Arizona can provide a great opportunity for the first-time mule deer hunter or the hunter wanting a true desert mule deer to complete their slam. If you need your desert mule deer for the slam, this is a very unique and exciting hunting experience amongst desert terrain. Although there is potential to harvest bucks with larger racks, the mature Arizona desert mule deer bucks that we typically harvest in our hunt areas have racks from 18 to 25 inches wide and have 3 to 5 points per side. Considering this is the desert, deer densities cannot be high in such a dry environment. But, our guides have mastered the techniques and have done their scouting homework so that our hunters can see a significant number of deer, again, considering it is the desert. Our hunting style is the spot and stalk method. We hike to a good vantage point where a couple square miles can be seen at one time. Most of our mule deer hunting is done with our eyes through tripod-mounted optics. Once a good mule deer buck is spotted, we make our move from the vantage point for the final stalk. The terrain is very open, therefore rifle shots are usually over 300 yards and archery shots might exceed 50 yards. There may be a great deal of hiking involved, so hunters are encouraged to condition themselves to the best of their ability before arriving. We conduct our mountain lions trips from November through April in the heart of Arizona and we can adapt to whatever diverse conditions we will encounter during your mountain lion trip. Our hunts can be conducted in several different methods including calling them with a electronic predator call, trailing them in the snow, but our preferred method is by pursuing behind our pack of lion hounds on foot on dry ground conditions. Whether we are going to be calling or dry ground hunting on foot, our most proven method of hunting these magnificent and elusive western predators is on foot with our pack of hounds. Our houndsman guides that will be taking you out on our lion trip are some of the very best fourth generation lion hunters in the state and will do everything humanly & legally possible to tree your tom and give you an extremely unforgettable first class hunting experience of a life time. Our team of predator hunting houndsman have over a two decades of pounding the high & low country, calling, trailing, and treeing lions under the very brutal country in Arizona has to offer. The typical day on our Arizona mountain lion hunts will begin before sunrise. Depending on the particular area of rim country or the other units that we have located a fresh tracks or recent kill from a tom mountain lion. Some of the rim country where we conduct our mountain lion hunts has excellent road systems that we will utilize to cover vast amounts of country with trucks, & UTVs in search of fresh tracks of mountain lion. If we are going to be lion hunting in a large expanse of rough and roadless country we will then free cast the pack of hounds while following them on foot as the pack searches for the fresh track of a legal mountain lion. Once a large tom mountain lion track is located either by us or by the hounds, the memories begin. Once the pack of hounds has jumped the cat you never know exactly where that particular lion will decide to tree or bay up on rocks, once our hounds have finally caught up to the lion. The pursuit will make the lion either choose to climb up into the branches of a tall ponderosa pine tree, cedar, juniper, or climb up on top of a giant rock mound, hide in the deep rim rock cave, or even fight the dogs on the ground. Expect to take shots anywhere from 40 yards to point blank on a bayed lion so clients need to be ready to possibly do some quick shooting in a very adrenaline filled moment. Experience an extreme big game hunt that is not offered in the entire state for a hunter to experience than our lion hunts in the heart of Arizona. The OTC tags and licenses for our trophy Arizona mountain lion trips are purchased online and do not need to be drawn.

This is a unique hunt on private land where hunts are conducted out of 4x4 trucks, making it feasible for elderly folks or difficulty walking. We have been operating out of our Candy Dan Camp for over 25 years. Constructed on the private ranch we hunt, located some 65 miles south of Great Falls. Our base camp consists of a newly constructed cook house built in 2013, equipped with a full kitchen, buffet table, couches, hot and cold water, and a custom dining table for up to 12 hunters, three cabins for sleeping quarters for the hunters, a sauna house, and sleeping quarters for the guides. Camp is equipped with propane heat, electricity in all cabins, electricity, full shower/sauna, and WIFI! Our antelope hunts are conducted in the month of October on our private leases. Our South Texas free-roaming Nilgai hunts take place on over 15,000 acres of historic Yturria Ranch located in Kenedy and Willacy Counties on the Coastal Plains of South Texas. Founded in 1858, it is still a working cattle ranch stewarded by the Yturria family. This area of South Texas is home to an incredible amount of Nilgai Antelope, Whitetail Deer, Javelina, and Rio Grande Turkeys. Hunts take place from December to April and are conducted in safari style with spot stalk tactics. All shots will be from the ground, from shooting sticks at an animal that we have stalked and is unaware of our presence. Ten Day Moose Hunt

Our moose hunts take place in GMU 20A in the Central Alaska Range and are in some of the most dense moose numbers in the state. The Alaska Range Bulls are known for having the classic tall (canoe paddle) palms as well as having nice fronts/brow palms/tines. We have taken several Bulls over the years whose outside spread on their brow palms has been over 65″! We typically take Moose in the high 50″ to mid 60″ range. The moose have been holding a steady population and we enjoy one of the longest seasons in the state at 25 days. A Moose hunt entails riding or walking to a prominent knob overlooking a vast amount of country looking for that distinctive flash of a trophy Moose palm. Once a Moose has been spotted that a hunter finds desirable, a stalk will be planned or if they are in a rutting mood we call one over as close as you would like I can assure you! Once the Moose has been dispatched, you will appreciate the guides skill at preparing your trophy as well as the care of the meat. Then you’ll really appreciate the horses that will pack this largest member of the Deer family back to one of the camps! Moose can typically be taken within walking distance of either of my camps and if the hunter doesn’t want to use a horse, a 30 minute to 45 minute hike from either camp will put you on any number of “Moose knobs” that have consistently produced trophy bulls for all the years I have been doing this. It is a very rare occasion that we have to “spike” out for a Moose hunt and you get to enjoy the nice accommodations of my main camps including awesome hearty home cooked meals heavy on the portions and heavenly on the taste! Like any of my hunts, these hunts can be physically demanding and the hunter should come prepared mentally as well as physically. Your stay with Fins and Feathers guide service will take place at the “ranch house.” The 4 bedroom 3 bath home is nestled in some of the most beautiful country that Douglas County has to offer. In the spring the surrounding hills and pastures are covered in fresh green grass. Oak trees covered in moss line the road to the lodge, among them you will find blooming daffodils in the spring and fall brings an array of autumn colors. No matter what season it is the setting is beautiful. The house has two televisions, one in the family room and the other in the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a separate entrance, deck, and hot tub. Each morning a guide will wake you up and let you know how much time you have until your departure. Ronnie, Craig’s mom, or Becky, will do the majority or the cooking during your stay. Occasionally the staff at Applebee’s pitches in. Breakfast will be available along with coffee and other beverages. Meals are flexible and we do our best to accommodate your taste. Lunch is always available; however it will not always be served at the house. If you are with us during Turkey season we may be eating in town at lunch time because a lot of the hunting leases are a bit of a drive from the house. Katmai Brown Bear Hunt in Alaska Peninsula

Majestic Mountain Outfitters operates in an exclusive guide area in the Katmai National Park & Preserve on the Alaska Peninsula. We take a limited number of hunters which keeps our success rate high and the trophy quality great. The hunts are backpack, so you need to be in good shape to fully enjoy your experience. We take pride in managing the area which helps maintain the resource for years to come. On the Alaska Peninsula we hunt brown bear in the spring of even years (2018, 2020, 2022, etc.) and the fall of odd years (2017, 2019, 2021, etc.). Both the spring and fall hunts are 10 days. Our hunts are one-on-one and each hunter will be paired with their own guide for the entire hunt (unless requested otherwise). All of our guides are experienced, knowledgeable, and highly trained. We guide in an exclusive concession in the Katmai National Park and Preserve. We are the only outfitter allowed to guide in this area. We take care of this area, treating the land as if it was our own and managing the game so it will flourish. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to learn about how we take care of our concessions. We will be staying in 8x8 Arctic Oven tents (or similar) with cots. These tents are durable and waterproof all-season tents with a large vestibule for storage. They are tried & true and work great on the Peninsula with its unpredictable weather. We will also have smaller all-season tents for backup if something were to happen. The meals are freeze-dried for dinner and breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and plenty of snacks throughout the day. The client has to get to Anchorage, AK on a commercial plane. Then from Anchorage to Iliamna with Lake and Penn Air where we will meet you. The hunts are all backpack and you will need to be in good shape. It is spot and stalk hunting from a lookout and we may hike 1-5 miles a day. Success rates vary from client to client, but if you come in shape and can shoot well, we will have a great chance (85%) at filling your tag.

Wyoming antelope hunts with Big Horn Outfitters are extremely exciting and offer very high opportunity and success rates. Most years both archery and rifle success rates are at or near 100%. To date, we’ve never had a rifle antelope hunter go home empty handed. Average antelope bucks harvested will score between 67-74″. Expect to see a lot of animals when you come on an antelope hunt with Big Horn Outfitters! Antelope tags in our area are among the easiest to draw in the state. That being said, it will still take 2 preference points to draw these tags in the regular price draw. If you’re willing to apply for special (higher price draw) then often times tags can be obtain with zero-one preference point. 10-Day Mountain Goat and Black Bear Hunt in Cardova in August

All Mt. Goat hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success, with many cases, a packer is added for those extended missions. Depending on where you are hunting Mt. Goat in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Mt. Goat spike camp is portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent is 8’X8’ and is equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Mt. Goat country can be in a variety of areas, from 5000 foot mountain tops to 1000 mountain ridges along the coastal areas of the North gulf coast. With the use of our small aircraft, we are able to access areas where mountain goats have never seen a human before and can normally find a hunting area to fit your physical needs. (Oreamnos Americanus - Latin Name) Cordova Mt. Goat population is one of the healthiest in the state of Alaska, with some of our horn genetics being one of the best in Alaska. Many of our clients receiving top awards each year during the APHA/SCI program for top scoring Mt. Goat trophies. In Cordova, our goals have been to work with local area biologists in harvesting selected areas for trophies by a permit system, with intent not to over harvest and focus on Billy harvest only. We strive to harvest Billies 8 1/2 inches or better. Our average has been 9 inches or better in recent years, with a few in the 11 inches class. We have 2 classes of Billies in our area, normally Billies weighing in at 285 to 325 pounds, and then we have “Buffalo Billies” weighing in at nearly 400 pounds, a bigger genetics Mt. Goat. (Ursus Americanus - Latin Name) With plenty of food near the coastal areas of Cordova, our Black Bear have always been plentiful in the Cordova area, both during the spring and fall hunts. As always, we have goals, trying to achieve 6 foot or better, with an occasional 8 footer taken. Black Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. But many times it’s a great starter hunt for the new young hunter to compatibility their parents or guardian. Depending on where you are hunting in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Black Bear spike camp is portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent is 8’X8’ or larger and is equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Again, Black Bear habitat varies from high covered snow peaks of their denning areas to the coastal grass areas near the coastal areas during April, May, and June. During the fall, most bears are hunted where berries are plentiful, either high up in the mountainous hillsides or low coastal areas where sometimes berries are thick. Once your trophy is taken, and it is then tagged, skinned, and peeled, the meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Black Bear meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Cordova that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Black Bear meat back with you, the meat will be donated to local elders or local charity in Cordova, never wasted. Once the Black Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, the hide is fleshed, ears, lips, nose, tail is turned, and knuckles are out; it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from the lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage at the end of the season.

Montana black bear are fair game in both the fall and spring! Color phase bears in shades of cinnamon, chocolate, and blonde are seen more frequently than jet black bears. In fact, the Swan Valley is home to some of the best black bear hunting in Montana. Our bear hunts often utilize horses, which makes us a very unique option for guided bear hunts in Montana. Montana bear hunting in our area is pure fair chase, no baiting or use of dogs, in fact we can’t even use scents. The Swan Valley is one of the few areas in Montana that remains open for black bear hunting until June 15th. In the spring these animals are very active. They consolidate in numbers on the valley floor taking advantage of the new growth to bulk up after hibernation. Using a combination of horses and hiking, we’ll hunt rockslides, search old logging roads and mountain meadows for scat and sit clear cuts. This is a unique hunt on private land where hunts are conducted out of 4x4 trucks, making it feasible for elderly folks or difficulty walking. We have been operating out of our Candy Dan Camp for over 25 years. Constructed on the private ranch we hunt, located some 65 miles south of Great Falls, our base camp consists of a newly constructed cook house built in 2013, equipped with a full kitchen, buffet table, couches, hot and cold water, and a custom dining table for up to 12 hunters, three cabins for sleeping quarters for the hunters, a sauna house, and sleeping quarters for the guides. Camp is equipped with propane heat, electricity in all cabins, electricity, full shower/sauna, and WIFI! DL Elk Outfitters conducts guided rifle elk hunts on over 70,000 Private acres in the Big Belt Mountains in central Montana. These private lands are home to some of Montana’s largest resident elk herds. We are not dependent on migrations, or heavy snows to push the elk out of areas we cannot hunt, giving our hunters a high chance of success. The country is rich in large grass meadows for feed to ridges and draws of timber making excellent habitat. Elk hunters access the hunting areas by 4-wheel drive vehicles and hiking to vantage spots and glassing for bull elk. (No horses or pack strings here.) Only bull elk with brow tines are legal in our area to harvest and that means 5, 6, and 7 point bulls are the norm here rather than exception. Elk hunters average glassing more than 100 elk per week on our hunts. Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer are available on all elk hunts and make for a great combo. Our hunting leases, comfortable cabins, elevations under 6500 feet and 4-wheel drive access make this an area any hunter regardless of age or physical condition can hunt.
