Rifle Bull Elk Hunt on 50K Acre of Private Land; Use Vehicles; Units 6, 16, 17, 171; 7-Day
You will be able to hunt four private ranches (55,000 acres) along with approximately one thousand acres of BLM land, reaching an altitude of well over 10,000 feet. Our elk hunts are fair chase, and the terrain and scenery are breathtaking. With only 36% of Jackson County being private property, pressured elk to seek out the protection of private lands for safety, which is where the majority of our hunting takes place. Our ranches are on the fringes of the timber and offer significant agriculture opportunities, making this prime free-range elk habitat very productive for our hunters. The elk herd stands at almost 20 bulls for 100 cow elk. The Colorado Department of Wildlife’s studies show this ratio is increasing, which means your opportunity for a bull is significantly higher than public lands throughout other parts of Colorado. In 2018, studies showed that the harvest success rate for all elk across the state was around 18%; in the last five years, our success rate was far better than the state average.
Specifically, you will be hunting just outside of the towns of Rand and Coalmont, CO. Rand is located about 3 hours Northwest of Denver at the base of Parkview Mountain at the south end of the North Park Region of Colorado. Coalmont is located 25 miles to the west of Rand and sits at the Eastern end of the Rabbit Ears Pass. The North Park Region is surrounded by mountain crests of the Park Range, Medicine Bow Range, and Never Summer Range. This area offers open sagebrush country and willow flat marshes surrounded by aspen, fir, and pine forests, reaching elevations beyond the tree line. With breathtaking views of Parkview Mountain to the south, the Never Summer Mountain Range and the Continental Divide to the southeast, and the rugged Buffalo Peaks to the west, you will truly find your place in the world!

These houses are part of the ranch and have showers and electricity, making a very nice hunting camp with home cooked meals and excellent guides. It is also possible to combine an Elk hunt or a Bison Hunt with a Mule or Whitetail Deer Hunt. As you can tell we are Trophy Deer hunters and our success and results speak for themselves. The Eastern Colorado Mule & Whitetails Deer Hunts are on a drawing with limited number of licenses available. The limited number of hunters has resulted in an increase in both the number and quality of our deer. When you draw a tag in our area it is good for either a Mule Deer or a Whitetail Hunt.
Colorado has a preference point system and also has a percentage of licenses allotted to the landowner. This system has enabled our hunters to draw a tag with high success using the landowner preference we have available to us. Most regular season hunts you can draw allow you to hunt with us using our landowner preference. Late season hunts will take points in addition to our landowner preference. DESERT Bighorn Sheep Hunt in CO
This year again Colorado will offer a Non-Resident Desert Sheep Permit. It will be available in the regular April drawing. There are no preference points awarded so it is a wide open draw. This will be a great chance for you to get a very coveted tag.
The area where the hunt will be is where the original transplant of Desert Sheep in Colorado took place in the 1970’s. The first hunt for Desert Sheep in Colorado was in 1989, with 2 tags being awarded, and Chris Cassidy was lucky enough to draw one and finish his Grand Slam with a Colorado Desert Sheep. You will be able to hunt four private ranches (55,000 acres) along with approximately one thousand acres of BLM land, reaching an altitude of well over 10,000 feet. Our elk hunts are fair chase, and the terrain and scenery are breathtaking. With only 36% of Jackson County being private property, pressured elk to seek out the protection of private lands for safety, which is where the majority of our hunting takes place. Our ranches are on the fringes of the timber and offer significant agriculture opportunities, making this prime free-range elk habitat very productive for our hunters. The elk herd stands at almost 20 bulls for 100 cow elk. The Colorado Department of Wildlife’s studies show this ratio is increasing, which means your opportunity for a bull is significantly higher than public lands throughout other parts of Colorado. In 2018, studies showed that the harvest success rate for all elk across the state was around 18%; in the last five years, our success rate was far better than the state average.
Specifically, you will be hunting just outside of the towns of Rand and Coalmont, CO. Rand is located about 3 hours Northwest of Denver at the base of Parkview Mountain at the south end of the North Park Region of Colorado. Coalmont is located 25 miles to the west of Rand and sits at the Eastern end of the Rabbit Ears Pass. The North Park Region is surrounded by mountain crests of the Park Range, Medicine Bow Range, and Never Summer Range. This area offers open sagebrush country and willow flat marshes surrounded by aspen, fir, and pine forests, reaching elevations beyond the tree line. With breathtaking views of Parkview Mountain to the south, the Never Summer Mountain Range and the Continental Divide to the southeast, and the rugged Buffalo Peaks to the west, you will truly find your place in the world!

We enjoy a 100% Opportunity rate. With an average score of 78", we target mature bucks and bucks scoring 80". Jackson County boasts a large herd of Pronghorn, most of which migrate to lower elevations in Wyoming to escape the brutal winters that come to North Park every year.
Tags in our units are very tough to draw. In 2018, it took 16 points for both a Resident and a Non-Resident to draw a license. However, there are a limited number of landowner vouchers available to us, and due to the very limited draw in these units, there are some giant Bucks that inhabit the area! Many B&C and P&Y entries come from our units every year.
In order to have us apply for a landowner voucher, we require a hunt deposit of 50% of the hunt cost. We have been able to draw archery, muzzle-loaders, and rifle vouchers in most years.
This is also a great hunt to combine with our August/September Elk Hunts. Hunt wapiti in the morning and afternoon and pronghorn in the middle of the day. Who needs a nap when you can have a full-on adrenaline rush all day?

While turkey hunting and elk hunting have some similarities in calling and habitat, there are significant differences, especially in how turkeys respond to movement and calling, making turkey hunting a more challenging and mentally demanding experience.
Your Merriam's turkey hunt of a lifetime may take place on either public or private land. With the abundance of turkeys available, you can expect plenty of action each day of your hunt. You can choose to hunt by sitting in one of our man-made blinds or by utilizing spot and stalk techniques. We will employ various calling methods, including yelping, clucking, purring, cackling, and more, to attract the birds. If you have experience with calling, you're welcome to call in your own bird.
The key to a successful turkey hunt is thorough scouting and a good understanding of the terrain. Our experienced guides know where the birds are roosting and their likely travel routes throughout the day. You will have the opportunity to hunt several private ranches (42,000 acres). We hunt our Pronghorn with spot and stalk tactics and strategically placed Pop-Up Ground Blinds over waterholes and stock tanks.
We enjoy a 100% Opportunity rate. With an average score of 78", we target mature bucks and bucks scoring 80". Jackson County boasts a large herd of Pronghorn, most of which migrate to lower elevations in Wyoming to escape the brutal winters that come to North Park every year.
Tags in our units are very tough to draw. In 2018, it took 16 points for both a Resident and a Non-Resident to draw a license. However, there are a limited number of landowner vouchers available to us, and due to the very limited draw in these units, there are some giant Bucks that inhabit the area! Many B&C and P&Y entries come from our units every year.
In order to have us apply for a landowner voucher, we require a hunt deposit of 50% of the hunt cost. We have been able to draw archery, muzzle-loaders, and rifle vouchers in most years.
This is also a great hunt to combine with our August/September Elk Hunts. Hunt wapiti in the morning and afternoon and pronghorn in the middle of the day. Who needs a nap when you can have a full-on adrenaline rush all day?

The Eastern Colorado Mule & Whitetails Deer Hunts are on a drawing with limited number of licenses available. The limited number of hunters has resulted in an increase in both the number and quality of our deer. When you draw a tag in our area it is good for either a Mule Deer or a Whitetail Hunt.
Colorado has a preference point system and also has a percentage of licenses allotted to the landowner. This system has enabled our hunters to draw a tag with high success using the landowner preference we have available to us. Most regular season hunts you can draw allow you to hunt with us using our landowner preference. Late season hunts will take points in addition to our landowner preference. This year we will again have available a number of landowner vouchers which will enable you to purchase a license without having to draw a tag or use any accumulated preference points.

Duck Hunting in Colorado
Duck hunting in Colorado can be nothing short of amazing. Our placement against the Front Range Mountains of Northern Colorado forces migrating ducks to push against the mountains when the temperatures freeze them out of eastern Colorado and points north. Typically duck hunts begin to get worthwhile in late November.
We get common puddle duck species like mallards, wigeon, teal, and gadwall, as well as other species like spoonbill, goldeneyes, canvasbacks, redheads, ringnecks, and three species of merganser. Your guided DUCK ONLY hunt will start at legal shooting light and end at noon. Duck only hunts are ½ day hunts. If a duck hunt is paired with a goose hunt as a COMBO OPTION, the hunt will last until the limit is reached, or legal shooting light expires. We are one of the few guide services along the Front Range that offer this service, and availability is limited.

Turkey hunting in Colorado is unlike any kind of turkey hunt that most people have experienced. This area of SW Colorado has vast mountains, rolling hills, deep canyons loaded with juniper and pinon pine, and river bottoms that intersect the mesas that sweep down from the San Juan Mountains, which serve as a magnificent backdrop for our hunts.
One common thing among all out turkey hunts is the heart-pounding experience of chasing or calling in a big tom during the spring. Our Merriam's Turkey hunts are done exclusively during the Spring season when the birds are fired up and looking for hens. Our guides have many years of Colorado turkey hunting experience under their belts and know how to call in a big tom or make the perfect setup for bow or gun hunters to get the shot they need. On your guided turkey hunt, you can hunt over 5,000 acres of private ground with a great Merriam's turkey population. Our ranch has several types of habitat including riparian river bottom, agricultural fields, thick juniper and pinon pine cover, deep valleys, and open mountain meadows.

You will be able to hunt four private ranches (55,000 acres) along with approximately one thousand acres of BLM land, reaching an altitude of well over 10,000 feet. Our elk hunts are fair chase, and the terrain and scenery are breathtaking. With only 36% of Jackson County being private property, pressured elk to seek out the protection of private lands for safety, which is where the majority of our hunting takes place. Our ranches are on the fringes of the timber and offer significant agriculture opportunities, making this prime free-range elk habitat very productive for our hunters. The elk herd stands at almost 20 bulls for 100 cow elk. The Colorado Department of Wildlife’s studies show this ratio is increasing, which means your opportunity for a bull is significantly higher than public lands throughout other parts of Colorado. In 2018, studies showed that the harvest success rate for all elk across the state was around 18%; in the last five years, our success rate was far better than the state average.
Specifically, you will be hunting just outside of the towns of Rand and Coalmont, CO. Rand is located about 3 hours Northwest of Denver at the base of Parkview Mountain at the south end of the North Park Region of Colorado. Coalmont is located 25 miles to the west of Rand and sits at the Eastern end of the Rabbit Ears Pass. The North Park Region is surrounded by mountain crests of the Park Range, Medicine Bow Range, and Never Summer Range. This area offers open sagebrush country and willow flat marshes surrounded by aspen, fir, and pine forests, reaching elevations beyond the tree line. With breathtaking views of Parkview Mountain to the south, the Never Summer Mountain Range and the Continental Divide to the southeast, and the rugged Buffalo Peaks to the west, you will truly find your place in the world!
